ABSOLUTELY! I believe client appreciation events are extremely important. The hard part of sales is convincing someone to buy from you the first time. Once they have already purchased they are 70% more likely to purchase from you again or recommend you to someone else. If you nurture the relationships you have already spent time building, the reward for your business can be huge! Most businesses spend a lot of their resources prospecting, and moving prospects through the sales cycle. It can take both time and money to woo a potential client enough to motivate them to purchase. Where many businesses fail is when they believe the client relationship ends following the delivery of the final product or service. ENCOURAGE FUTURE BUSINESS By not continuing to court your clients after you have sealed the deal, you are allowing a competing business to come in and steal them away. You have already helped your clients identify their need for your product or service, so what are you doing to encourage a repeat purchase? Even if they don’t have an immediate need to purchase from you again, you need to ensure you are first in your client’s mind when their friends and relatives ask if they know anyone in your line of work. If your clients never hear from you after the initial sale is closed, chances are you’re not going to be remembered. ANYTHING GOES The reaction from most small business owners when I mention holding a client appreciation event is “I’m a small business and I can’t afford to hold a client appreciation event.” This mindset is generally based on previous exposure to large-scale client appreciation events. You don’t have to send your clients to Hawaii or host a huge golf tournament to say thank you. Why not hold a small reception with wine and hors d’oeuvres to say thanks? How about a picnic in the park? There are countless ways to host a successful customer appreciation event that won’t break the bank. Remember, it’s the thought that counts! As a compliment to Ananda Prana Events, I recently became a consultant for Wine Shop At Home. Rather than sourcing its wines from one or two vineyards, as most wineries do, WSAH's vineyard is the world. Using premier wine-growing regions - from the famed appellations of California to the far reaches of the old world - WSAH finds the very best grapes to craft exclusive, artisan wines. What's all this about "exclusive" and "artisan"? The local cork dorks tell me this means WSAH wines can't be bought at any store, and that they are crafted in "artisan" volumes of 500-1500 cases only. I have had the pleasure of presenting these wines at several Wine Tasting Events, and I am also a proud member of the monthly Wine Club. Most importantly, I've discovered some amazing ways to utilize WSAH as a source of unique and customized gifts for my friends, colleagues and clients! Please stay tuned for a series of postings on how you can use wine as an event accompaniment or client gift! Love & Cabernet Sauvignon, Morgan Topolnicki When I went out on my own just a year ago, a colleague of mine gave me a very valuable piece of advice... ATTEND AT LEAST 3 NETWORKING EVENTS EACH WEEK! Since receiving this valuable advice, I've explored many networking groups around the Denver Metro area. This world of networking was a whole new horizon for me, and it has worked wonders for my business. My experience over the last year has taught me three things that are guaranteed to make your networking endeavors successful: 1. Know Your Target Market = Primarily this will help you select which networking events to attend. Networking takes time, and in order to get the best ROI, you should attend networking functions that will have guests in your target market. 2. Have An Elevator Speech Prepared = One of the biggest benefits to attending a networking event is that they give you an opportunity to showcase your business. Your "elevator speech" should be clear, concise and captivating... Think short and sweet. 3. Be Confident = This is your chance to let people know about the amazing things you offer. You are passionate about your product or service, so be sure to share this with people you meet. If you are confident about what you do, people will be attracted to purchase your product or service. Here are some networking groups I recommend: Tell us what groups you recommend! Happy Networking, Morgan Topolnicki Ananda Prana Events I have some exciting news to share with you.
